Thursday, 6 March 200817.02 Wilsons Promontory: Picnic Bay
After our 'little' walk up Mount Oberon we were a quite hungry, so where better to have a picnic than Picnic Bay! Like most of the beaches, there was plenty of space and very few people around - it was that tim ein the afternoon when the majority head home!

We spent the night in Yanakie Caravan Park, sleeping in the back of the Magna again! The campsites in the National Park were all full, so this was the nearest campsite to the Park. The site didn't have a camp kitchen though, so we ate in the Park on the barbeques there!
After cooking our bacon sandwiches, a tea & latte at the small cafe, we decided that we'd do a little walk, well, it was 3.4km (one way) to the summit of Mount Oberon! We didn't quite realise what we would see at the top, but it was absolutely stunning! The views just showed how stunning Wilsons Promontory really is, with the white sands and clear blue water! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Labels: glennie_group, joanna, mount_oberon, nab_cup, norman_bay, photos, tidal_river, victoria, weekend_away, wilsons_prom, wilsons_promontory 16.02 Wilsons Promontory: Whisky Bay Sunset
A delicious barbeque dinner was had in Tidal River, and then we went to watch the sunset at Whisky Bay. While we were waiting for the sun to manoeuvre into position, we had a little time for a nice cup of tea and a relax!

We did manage to see some Wombats and Kanagroos, but compared to Tasmania there weren't as many as we would have expected! After Squeaky Beach we headed down the road to Tidal River, and decided that we'd try another beach, Norman Bay this time!!

With 'camping' still flowing through our veins after Tasmania, we thought that we'd head down to Wilson Promontory for the weekend. We'd heard stories that it was an amazing place to visit, and we weren't disappointed!
The drive took us down through the country town of Leongatha where we stopped for a spot of tea and cake! I had one of the best and biggest pieces of Mud cake I've ever had since I've been in Melbourne there! We arrived early afternoon, collected our two day park pass and headed straight to the first beach, Squeaky Beach. ![]() ![]() ![]() Labels: photos, squeaky_beach, victoria, weekend_away, wilsons_prom, wilsons_promontory |
