15.02 AFL: NAB Cup

With our time rapidly depleting in Melebourne, we thought that we'd grab some tickets for the first round of the NAB Cup at Telstra Dome, between St. Kilda and Richmond! St. Kilda won!!

29.09 AFL Grand Final

When in Melbourne for the Grand Final and you don't have a ticket to the MCG, then do what the Melburnians do - install yourself in a pub for the afternoon, and perhaps while you're not drinking or eating watch a bit of the match!!

We managed to find a spot in the 'infamous' Waterside Hotel, if the City Circle narrator is to be believed! Anyway, Geelong won, and the match wasn't quite as close as some people wanted. But hey, we had a great day!!

The room! It had everything that we needed; a tv, some seats, good comapny, and a bar!

Just to finish the evening off, a second Yaga/Jager/Yager Bomb was had!

06.09 AFL: St. Kilda v's West Coast Eagles

We went to our first AFL game at the Telstra Dome with our friends Kevin & Michelle. The match was between St. Kilda and the West Coast Eagles. Kevin is a St. Kilda fan and it was very important for them to win to stay within the top eight. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out, but we had a great time!

The AFL is set out like a conventional league (playing for points) until there is a cut-off where the top eight go through to a knockout, which results in the Grand Final on the 29th September. Apparently the whole of Melbourne shuts down that day! We'll be installed in a bar somewhere, I'm sure!!
